The editor’s word:

It is quite possible that “The Sleepwalkers” is the world’s first anthology of writers’ dreams.

Thanks to this anthology the readers are able to read the dreams of 80 contemporary Ukrainian writers of different generations.

It is possibly the first time that so many most famous poets, prose writers, children’s writers and playwrights are gathered under one cover.

In fact, this book comprises three generations of the Ukrainian writers. This is an interesting snapshot of the whole Ukrainian contemporary literature, emphasizing on the young ones, for it is today’s 20 year-olds that are worth observing as tomorrow’s classic writers.

All the dreams are written down specially for this edition. The only exception is a dream of Hryhoriy Skovoroda, for this can possibly be the most ancient Ukrainian writer’s dream ever publicized.

The book clearly exposes the broadening geography of our writing. A lot of Ukrainian writers now live and write abroad. In this book we can observe the changing focuses, themes, styles, landscapes.

The cover of “The Sleepwalkers” is decorated with the artwork of Rafal Olbinsky, a famous American contemporary artist, a holder of an international “Oscar” art award (Paris).
