The historical development of the action itself is well enough not to invent something extraordinary in the novel; what remains for the writer is just to capture the details of the protagonist’s personal route within the highway that is one for all. The refrain of the book is “the incredible becomes real”. With time, the caterpillar turns into a butterfly and the lascivious lad — into St. Francis.
